Our lives are defined and determined by moments and minutes. We fill each second, minute, and hour with moments that we believe will make us more successful, more beautiful, and more happy. We try to control every waking moment because the idea of not knowing what’s going to happen next is terrifying. We love being the master of our minutes.
But what if I told you that you could live in the freedom of knowing that your Heavenly Father has already ordained time and has orchestrated every moment in His kingdom. Mark 1:15 says, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand…” The Greek word that’s used here for time suggests a period of time that God has already predetermined. Because of His sovereignty, we don’t have to worry about what is to come in light of eternity: the time is fulfilled and Jesus is victorious.
God is working to reconcile all creation to Himself.
God is working all things for our good and His glory.
God is working to fulfill all of His promises.
There is freedom in knowing that God is in control. In His infinite perfection, we are perfectly boundaried. It is not a limitation or a burden to carry, but a gift knowing that the passing of time is not up to us. We cannot number our days and we cannot control everything that happens each moment, but we can rest in knowing that God is in control and He has our best interest in mind.
