EARLY CHILDHOOD DIRECTOR

Vision/Purpose of this role:

The Early Childhood Director provides strategic focus, leadership and detailed management around the operation of the Babies & Toddlers environment and the PreK/K environment within Stonecreek Kids Ministry. This position demands its leader to be highly organized and administrative in thinking and execution. Further, it requires a servant mindset and relational chemistry to recruit and work in cooperation with a team of volunteers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Recruiting, Scheduling & Administration:
  • • Schedule management for Sunday volunteers and weekday Prep Team volunteers.
  • • Maintaining information in database as it pertains to Babies & Toddlers and PreK/K environments.
  • • Recruiting and on-boarding new volunteers including training and background check submissions.
  • • Establish and maintain weekly communication with volunteers (weekly email).
  • Volunteer Encouragement & Spiritual Equipping
  • • Use training sessions and weekly team gatherings to keep volunteers up to date with vision, announcements, policies, procedures, and overall health of the team. Share stories and strategies with the team.
  • • Schedule two or more coffee or lunch meetings with volunteers each month.
  • • Identify Team Leaders to build closer relationships with volunteers in similar roles. Director should focus on building relationships with Team Leaders and encouraging them in their roles as volunteers and followers of Jesus.
  • Curriculum Management
  • • Edit curriculum (The Gospel Project) for each age group in the Early Childhood environments: Babies, Toddlers, Younger PreK, and Older PreK
  • • Provide detailed instructions to the Prep Team for cleaning toys and gathering needed supplies for each set of lessons each week.
  • • Prepare Lesson Guides, ensure needed supplies are available/ordered, and affirm that volunteers have everything they need to lead on Sunday morning
  • Environment Maintenance and Management
  • • Maintain safe and appropriate leader/child ratios in classrooms.
  • • Supervise management of environment on Sunday mornings (or train Hallway
  • Coordinators to lead).
  • • Communicate with families about environment specific issues as needed.
  • • Regularly check the safety, cleanliness and overall functionality of the environment.
  • Make requests to Maintenance/Operations for repairs or other concerns.
  • • Identify and plan for replacement of damaged, unsafe, or otherwise unusable equipment, toys, books and furniture.
  • Budget Management
  • • Prepare and submit budget for approval each fiscal year, and manage that budget for the operation of the ministry.
  • Parent-Child Dedication Event
  • • Work with Stonecreek Kids staff team to plan each event.
  • • Manage and coordinate promotion, registration and parent communication about the event.

Education & Experience

  • • Minimum High School Diploma required; higher degree related to Early Childhood
  • recommended
  • • Must have knowledge of child development stages and at least 2 years experience
  • serving or working in Children’s Ministry
  • • Strong proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases, and other related software tools
  • • Highly effective in communicating clearly and professionally, both in writing and in
  • person
  • • Experience in budgeting and managing financial resources efficiently
